Description
This is a linen alphabet or band sampler with silk threads. It was worked by Ann Warder of Philadelphia in 1837. Ann was proficient at Berlin work, however, she learned needlework in the traditional way. This sampler is the earliest known example of her needlework skills. The inscription on Ann's sampler reads: "Ann Warder, work / done in the year 1832"
