Description
This little box, so similar to thousands of others made by the Mi'kmaq (Micmac) and other northeastern Native American groups for sale to tourists in the northern United States and Canada, would probably have not survived if it had not belonged to Hannah Thompson. Hannah Elinor Weeks Thompson was born into a prosperous family in New Hampshire and she married Josiah Bartlett, a well-known doctor from Stratham, New Hampshire on August 13, 1827. His great-uncle, Dr. Josiah Bartlett, Sr., was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
