Description
A silk cape with quilted silk lining and fur trim. Ivory silk damask (woven with floral motifs) is used for the exterior of the cape and fully lined with orange satin. A vertical band of the orange lining is visible along the outer edge of the cape, and covered with ivory net, constructed with a knotted openwork technique (similar to macrame). Shoulders are slightly puffed. The satin lining is quilted with wide chevron bands. White fur trim is stitched to the outer edge of the cape, including the collar. The back of the cape is trimmed with a large satin bow. There is a brass hook and eye closure at the front, and the orange satin lining on the collar is not quilted, but it is gathered in a wide ruffle. This design suggests a chinoiserie influence.
