Description
This colorless lime (alkaline) glazed white porcelain (hard-paste) coffee cup or can is molded, with a concave-sided, widely-flared profile and a shallow well. The footrim is wiped clean of glaze, leaving a slightly rough surface. The saucer is decorated on the exterior of the wall, only, with sepia and yellow enamels and gilding. The ornament features classical figures as well as scrollwork and floral motifs. The object originally was was owned by Benjamin Chew of Philadelphia.
