Description
Although it is not identical, the likely source for the printed decoration on the lid of this pot is an illustration titled "Entrance to the Chin-chew River, Fokien." The view was included in an 1843 book, published in London by Fisher, Son & Co. and titled China, in a series of views, displaying the scenery, architecture, and social habits, of that ancient empire. Drawn, from original and authentic sketches, by Thomas Allom. With historical and descriptive notices by the Rev. G. N. Wright. The engraver is listed as C. T. Dixon.
