Description
A bonnet made with black and white striped silk. The fabric is black with an all over cream checked pattern. The frame is constructed with wire, and probably buckram. The bonnet is ruched throughout and resembles a calash, although it does not appear to be collapsible. The bonnet has a wide self ruffle at the neck and ties from the same fabric. Lined in glazed cotton (fabric may have been black originally, but now looks brown). This is handstitched. Different religious branches with the Quaker community had different bonnet styles.
