Bonnet
1840-1900
Description
A black bonnet made of straw (dyed black) and satin. The brim is covered in ruched black netting. A thick band of black satin is wrapped around the center of the hat and two matching ribbons are attached at the edge. The bonnet is lined in black. Different religious branches with the Quaker community had different bonnet styles.
