Description
A skirt, made primarily of green taffeta with accents of pink taffeta. Worn with bodice 2001.0037.010 A. Fastens at the waist with two hook and eye closures. There is a side slit for a pocket.The skirt is gathered at the back into a slight bustle form. At the front, the alternating panels of color are repeated and the waistline is smocked (technique is also called "shirred"). At the back, alternating panels of pink and green form a ruffle at the hem. These panels are also embellished along the top with the same smocked detail used in the bodice. The interior is lined in glazed cotton with a band of black horsehair (grid) netting above the deep hem. Stiffened cotton muslin is sewn on top of the glazed cotton near the hem. Machine and hand-stitched.
