Bodice

Description

A front fastening bodice, made of silk damask and designed to coordinate with skirt 2001.0037.008 B. The fabric is peach damask with a lily of the valley pattern. The lining is salmon pink silk twill. The sleeves are puffed and embellished with vertical bands of damask and gray chiffon.There is a series of eyelets at front (hook but no eye at bottom of eyelets on right side) and interior cream-colored, grosgrain silk tape waistband with hook-and-eye. Laces with metal aglets are stored in separate bag included with bodice. Waistband with faded, partially illegible stamped gold label: "Maison...nard/17 Boul.../Paris." Would originally have read "Maison Soinard / 17 Boul. Haussman / Paris" Machine and hand-stitched. The bodice has been altered.
