Description
The "H" on this so-called brown fitzhugh plate refers to an order (c. 1810) by Captain John Dandgridge Henley, who was born in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1781. Henley captained the ship Carolina in the 1815 battle of New Orleanes. From the same service, a somewhat triangular covered dish at Colonial Williasburg is part of a set of six dishes which form a circle.
