Short gown

Description

A short gown, made of printed cotton. Labeled "Rachel Burgess Moon's "short gown (1753 - 1819)" Brown and cream printed fabric with a small repeating circular pattern. Square neckline and 3/4 length sleeves with a drawstring at the waist. The bodice is slightly gathered. The neckline is lined (interior) with a band of blue and cream woven check fabric. Short gowns were similar to a lightweight jacket and would have been worn with a long skirt and petticoat.
