Coat (Child's coat)

Description

A child's coat, made of silk. Designed to coordinate with 1994.0107.023 Fichu (pictured). The primary fabric is brown silk woven with visible slubs (similar to a silk shantung, although a lighter weight). The cuffs are lined with green silk velvet. Coat closes at the front with a row of brass hook and eye fasteners. The coat is lined with several different fabrics: a glazed cotton (or possibly linen), a woven plaid cotton with a tan background, and a brown plain-weave linen (possibly cotton). The skirt is pleated and terminates with a horizontal tuck above the hem.
