Origin Notes
Origin is New England, probably Massachusetts. Forman noted the workmanship on this box and box 64.739 are almost identical, which lead him to conclude there is "little question that the two boxes must have come from the same shop, althought the technique of the carving suggests that two different carvers were responsible for the ornamentation." (See memo in object folder).
