Description
The design of this English porcelain figure was inspired by Chinese export originals. Shao (or Shou) Lao is a "divinity of longevity [often] represented holding a peach, symbol of long life in teh Taoist [Daoist] religion. He also brings wealth and power, as well as exorcising and practising magic to obtain complete power. He had eight follwers, known as the Eight Immortals who lived at different times and became immortal." (See Veiga, under References.)
