Description
.This ring’s pointed shape (navette) is typical of the mid-to-late eighteenth century. A border of blue enamel frames the crystal-faced compartment containing blond palette-worked hair woven in a basketweave pattern. The band is engraved with a stylistic design that splays out at the shoulders and tapers at the back, which would have balanced the ring on the finger. The band was cut or broken off at a later point in this ring’s history.
