Description
This fragment of unglazed red-orange earthenware is part of a vessel of a possibly circular but now unknown form. The exterior features a portion of a black-painted geometric motifs composed of broad, solid bands and diagonal slash elements. The inner surface is undecorated. This object is most likely associated with the Hopi culture. As per the donor Mr. L. T. Alexander, the fragment was acquired "near the Little Colorado River in Winslow, Arizona, 50 miles west of the Petrified Forest." No details are recorded regarding the discovery methods used for this object.
