Description
This fragment of unglazed earthenware is part of a vessel of a possibly circular but now unknown form. The outer surfaces are pale cream to buff in color; the center of the body fabric is gray. The exterior surface is patterned in relief with horizontal strips bearing roughly triangular impressions. The inner surface is undecorated. This object is most likely associated with the Hopi culture. As per the donor Mr. L. T. Alexander, the fragment was acquired "near the Little Colorado River in Winslow, Arizona, 50 miles west of the Petrified Forest." No details are recorded regarding the discovery methods used for this object.
