Ceramic fragment (Archaeological fragment)

Description

This fragment of unglazed pale orange earthenware is part of the upper edge of a vessel of a possibly circular but now unknown form. The exterior surface features a textured pattern created by impressing with cords or a woven surface. Three incised narrow parralel lines are cut through the textured surface, below the rim. This object is most likely associated with the O'odham culture. It was acquired, as per the donor Mr. L. T. Alexander, near the Santa Cruz River in Tucson, Arizona. No details are recorded regarding the discovery methods used for this object.
