Edition Notes
Portrait is based on a mezzotint portrait of Jones painted by C. J. Notté and published by R. Wilkinson in London, n.d. Notté's portrait was engraved in line by a German engraver, Carl Guttenberg, residing in Paris in the early 1780s. Guttenberg's image was subsequently copied as a copperplate engraving (the background of two vessels engaged in combat added) and published by Esnauts et Rapilly sometime thereafter.
