Description
The straightforward design of this mourning ring is expressive of the shift in jewelry design from neoclassical styles of the mid-eighteenth century to Regency Classicism of the early nineteenth century. Constructed of ten-karat gold, the central circular bezel of this ring holds a woven hair memento. The circular shape of this ring’s bezel originates from the larger, elongated ovals or navettes of late eighteenth-century. A unique feature of this ring are small holes and peg fasteners present on the shank that would have allowed the wearer to adjust the ring. “Lloyd” is inscribed on the shank.
