Description
This nineteenth-century locket memorializes the friendship of Sophie Marie du Pont (1775–1828) and Charlotte B. Cazenove. The frame comprises silver and gold (pink and yellow) leaves and flowers surrounding a delicate twisted hoop of gold. The convex glass compartment preserves a woven plait of fine brown hair. On the underside, “Charlotte B. Cazenove/-to-/ S. M. du Pont” is engraved in script.
