Description
Federal-style corner basin stand made of mahogany with white pine. The frame is triangular, supporting two sections of shelves and a stretcher braced by continuous legs that serve as posts for the frame. The shelves are shaped as quarter circles. The top of the upper section consists of two leaves hinged along the straight sides; they open flat to create a top surface of a full half circle. The bottom of the top section has a central circular opening flanking by two smaller openings suited for a basin and cups. The top compartment has a brass lock. Wooden fretwork brackets are mounted beneath the apron of the upper shelf where it meets the legs. The center section has a single-board top surmounting a center drawer flanked by two faux drawer fronts. Each drawer front has beaded edges and a single brass drop pull. A stretcher-shelf braces the legs. The feet are continuous with the legs and kick outward.
