Description
A rectangular panel of plain-woven taffeta, brocaded with a serpentine design with white, lacey elements intertwined with naturalistic floral sprays brocaded in white, green, black and rose on a purple ground fabric. Stored on a roll with the other panels of matching material (roll contains panels a-f). This style of two streamers of lace meandering parallel to each other and decorated with bunches of colorful, naturalistic flowers was common in the brocaded taffeta fabrics created in Lyon during the 1760s. This material is also used in a dress (1969.2571)
