Description
This beaker, or cup without a handle, was created from flattened sheet silver shaped into a faceted octagonal body that transitions into a circle at the upper lip. A band of drawn, reeded molding is soldered at the opening and at the base as a foot rim, hiding a slightly recessed bottom also soldered in place. Such machine-aided construction saved some time, and aided in the production of multiples of one form. A history associated with this beaker is that it was part of a beverage set of eight beakers accompanying a silver pitcher.
