Description
A textile panel comprised of several materials. The main section is a rectangular length of red silk damask. This panel is trimmed with a multicolor silk damask ribbon woven with geometric and floral patterns in cream and green. The fringe alternates in bunches of red, green and tan fringe. The entire panel is lined with what may have originally been red (now faded to orange) linen. Although the red damask is rectangular, the damask ribbon trim is applied to curve along one edge. The three other edges are straight. A note from a 1960s Winterthur staff member states that the red silk panel is a piece of 17th century silk damask from France or Italy.
