Origin Notes
The obituary in the New York Tribune on March 24, 1888 (p. 5) states: "Samuel D. Rockwell, of Yonkers, died yesterday from pneumonia at No. 135 East Forty-sixth st., in his seventy-ninth year. He moved to Yonkers from this city when a young man on account of his health. he was then a jeweller, but shortly after changing his residence he sold out and opened a real estate office in Yonkers, where he lived for over forty-years. He was a prominent member of the First Presbyterian Church, where his funeral will take place Monday, at 2 p.m."
