Description
This plate is a rare survivor of a dinner service commissioned by King Henry I (Henri Christophe), the only ruler of the Kingdom of Haiti from 1811–1820. Born into slavery, Henri Christophe served as a leader in the Haitian Revolution and rose in power within the political ranks of independent Haiti.
