Description
This child-sized Shaker sewing desk was made of pine around 1830, possibly by a member of the Shaker community in Canterbury, New Hampshire. It features sides with ogee profiles cut at the top and feet cut out at the bottom. The top drawer is dovetailed at the back and secured with sprig nails at the front. This desk retains much of its original chrome yellow paint-stain, which was reinforced over a barrier layer by furniture conservator Andy Bellisle in 2024.
