Description
This pair of left and right iron rowel spurs originally had a brighter gold-color surface coating and they would have been fastened with leather straps that buckled across the instep to secure them to a boot heel. The narrow width and overall shape of the spur frame is smaller than United States military spurs during much of the nineteenth century, but it is unclear if these were sized specifically for a young person. Because of their ubiquitous design more research is needed to identify their origin.
