Description
This linen tablecloth was manufactured in Ireland for export to the United States in the early 20th century. It is a damask with a radially symmetrical design of oval medallions, or wheels, framed by ribbons tied into bows and scrolls. This tablecloth has two labels still attached, which consumers would have seen when encountering the product on store shelves, in this case at the R. H. Stearns & Company department store in Boston. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
