Description
This paper envelope once held lace made by H. Slabinck-Mulier, a lace worker in Bruges, Belgium. (For the lace, see object 2017.0043.031 B.) The envelope is printed with advertising text, in both French and English, urging tourists to visit the lace shop. The advertisement includes Slabinck-Mulier's address and promises such as “Splendid exhibition of real Flemish-lace,” “Every Article guaranteed Hand-Made,” and “English Spoken.” This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
