Description
This white linen napkin was manufactured in Scotland by Henry Reid & Son Ltd. The napkin is a Jacquard woven damask and is machine stitched around the edges. The woven design is both horizontally and vertically symmetrical, with a circle at the center surrounded by a wreath of roses. A small tag in the upper right corner of the napkin reads “MADE IN SCOTLAND,” and the numbers “1100 / 4756” are stamped above the tag. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
