Description
This fragment of ingrain wool carpet has a repeating pattern of hexagonal lozenge shapes, each containing an oakleaf motif. On the front, the oakleaves contain red, brown, and tan stripes while the ground is an ecru color. On the back, the striped and ecru areas are reversed. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
