Description
This is a fragment of cotton fabric, manufactured sometime in the early 20th century, with two original paper labels still attached. An oval label at the center of the textile identifies the brand as “Glasgow Round Thread” and features the Scottish coat of arms inside of a red letter “G.” A second, rectangular label is attached to the bottom edge, with text printed in gold reading “36 In. Wide / G / Round Thread / Glasgow / Linen Finish / Double Fold.” This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
