Description
Interlaken Mills, located in Fiskeville, Rhode Island, manufactured this sample of linen filling in 1945. The sample includes a printed label with detailed information, which was probably intended for retailers who were considering stocking Interlaken’s textiles in their stores. The “count” indicates the number of threads per square inch in the warp and weft – in this case 48 by 48. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
