Description
This fragment of printed cotton fabric was manufactured by Waverly Fabrics sometime around the mid-20th century. The printed pattern depicts early colonial scenes of settlers and Native Americans. It is plain woven, probably cotton, with two selvedge edges and two raw edges. This fabric is irregularly cut and may have previously been used to cover a piece of furniture. Printed dark brown text along bottom of the left selvedge edge probably reads “Waverly Fabrics,” but is torn and only “Waverly” is fully visible. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
