Description
This is a length of cotton bunting printed with a pattern. The design consists of three large red, white, and blue stripes which run the length of the textile. The red and blue stripes have the same pattern, depicting two alternating images: a large, five-pointed white star and a U.S. flag with 20 stars on it. The white stripe, in the middle, has a pattern also depicting a U.S. flag, alternating with a five-pointed blue star. Five smaller stars, printed in red, are placed within the points of these blue stars. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
