Description
This is a hand carved wooden print block used for printing on textiles. It is comprised of two separate pieces of wood, a mahogany base block and a pine handle. The design, carved in relief from the base, consists of four organic, blob-shaped areas of stippling, each surrounded by groups of short lines with pointed ends. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
