Description
Textile manufacturer Scalamandré Silks produced this printed cotton yardage around the 1960s. The textile is a twill weave cotton printed with a stylized floral design. The repeating pattern depicts flowers resembling chrysanthemums, one with red and pink petals and the other with blue petals. This fragment has one selvedge edge and three hemmed edges. Printed text along the selvedge reads “Hand Printed by Scalamandré Silks.” This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
