Description
The Danvers Carpet Company (also called the Eagle Carpet Company), located in Danvers, Massachusetts, manufactured this ingrain carpet between 1847 and 1880. This carpet fragment is double woven wool with red and grey fibers. The woven design is a full drop repeat pattern of trailing, leafy vines which curve to fill in the ground space. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
