Description
Philadelphia carpet manufacturer Hardwick & Magee manufactured this wool rug during the early 20th century. The rug is a Wilton weave and has an attached cotton fringe on two edges. A label on the reverse identifies this as a “Shirvana” rug, one of the a brand names used by Hardwick & Magee. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
