Tool (for textiles) (Textile printing block)

Description

This is a textile printing block with a geometric floral design. The block is rectangular and comprised of three layers of wood, with a wooden handle at the bottom. Two handholds have been carved into the bottom layer of wood to allow the handle to be gripped. The design is made of thin metal strips, set on edge, which are affixed to the top of the block. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
