Tool (for textiles) (Textile printing block)

Description

This is a print block with floral motifs, used for printing on textiles. The motifs are made of thin metal strips, set on edge, which are affixed to a rectangular wooden base. The base is comprised of three layers of wood and has a wooden handle at the bottom. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
