Description
This is a print block of the letters “US,” used for printing on textiles. The block has a flat metal base and a wooden handle on the reverse, affixed to the base with two large screws. The letters “US” are made of metal and held onto the base with nine hooks, which go through the base and are attached with nuts and washers on the reverse. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
