Description
This is a skein of black, Z twist cotton yarn. A paper tag attached to the skein reads “From Catlin & Co., 67 Chauncy Street, Boston, 18/1 Cones, Combed Peeler., Fast Black., 4/6/06.” Catlin & Co. Were cotton exporters based in Boston and New York. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
