Description
Mohawk Mills, located in Amsterdam, New York, manufactured this small wool rug swatch around 1910, probably as an advertising sample. The design is done in a cube-like petit point style and depicts an outdoor scene with a man walking a dog, a woman pushing a baby carriage, and two children walking hand in hand. The scene is surrounded by a black frame with floral motifs at the corners. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
