Description
This is a gray towel with an overshot diamond and circle pattern. It has a cotton warp and a linen weft. Small, braided loops for hanging are attached to the top and bottom edges. According to the donor, this towel was part of the trousseau of her great grandmother, Charlotte Killam, when she married George Nelson of Georgetown, Massachusetts in 1830. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
