Description
This is a 19th-century harrateen upholstery fragment, possibly made in Europe, made of plain woven red wool. It has one selvedge edge, one raw edge, one turned edge, and one edge turned and bound with woven cotton tape. It has a symmetrical damask design depicting large floral medallions. This object is one of a large group transferred to Winterthur from the American Textile History Museum when it closed in 2017.
