Bowl (Platter)

Description

This very shallow wooden bowl, or possibly platter, was hewn from a thick plank of wood. It has two thin, rounded projections which form handles at either side. A long crack, which has been repaired with wire, runs through the center of the bowl. The maker and origin of this bowl is unknown; it was originally thought to have been made by a Native American artist, but later speculation has suggested it may be African in origin.
