Plain silk damask fabrics use only one color of silk thread, creating a rich, contrasting graphic effect with combinations of weaving techniques.This irregularly shaped panel of plain silk damask is scalloped along one long side.This panel is one in a group of 37 pieces cut from the same18th century dress (1969.4835 A- KK). The pattern is in a Rococo style and features a large repeat of a stylized floral design.
